12 oz fresh cranberries (3 cups)
1 med apple peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 med pear peeled cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup dried cherries or dried cranberries
1 tbl grated orange peel
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

This relish has a fresh taste, vibrant red color and midlevel sweetness. If you prefer yours extra sweet or slightly tart, just scale the maple syrup up or down by a quarter of a cup.

1. In medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until mixture thickens and fruits are quite soft, about 20 minutes.

2. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
