Instructions: 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter a 1 quart casserole dish.
2 Layer 1/2 of the potatoes into bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Top with the onion slices. Add the remaining potatoes on top and salt and pepper to taste. 3 To make the cheese sauce, melt butter in a medium-size saucepan over a medium heat. Add the flour and salt. Stir constantly with a whisk for one minute. Add milk, stirring with a whisk to remove any lumps. Cook over medium heat until it is thickened and hot. Add cheese all at once, stir until melted; about 30 to 60 seconds. Pour cheese sauce over the potatoes, and cover the dish with aluminum foil. 4 Bake in a 400 degree F (200 degree C) oven for 1 1/2 hours. Email this Recipe:
