Instructions: Mix cake flour, sugar, baking powder, milk, salt, shortening. Mix thoroughly - 300 strokes by hand or 2 minutes on medium speed with an electric mixer. Scrape bowl frequently during mixing.

Add the egg whites, flavoring and 1/3 cup milk and mix 300 strokes by hand or 2 minutes with an electric mixer. Mix vigorously.

Pour the batter into two 9" layer pans, which have been lined with plain paper or greased & floured.

Bake at 350 degrees - baking time about 35 minutes.
