Whisk well to combine in a large bowl. Drop the sliced onions into the batter and coat well. Strain with a slotted spoon. Carefully place coated onion rings into hot oil. Frying is messy and to get the correct temperature for the oil is difficult. Using an electric fryer works great and is easy to clean, plus, the temperature of the oil is easily maintained.
