2 lb Venison stew meat cut in 1" cubes
Salt to taste
Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
2 tbl Butter or oil
3 x Celery stalks cut in pieces
1/2 cup Chopped onion
2 x Garlic cloves minced
1 tbl Chopped parsley
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Dry red wine
1 can Tomato sauce - (8 oz)
4 x Carrots sliced
4 x Potatoes cut small
Instructions:
Instructions: Soak the meat overnight in salted water to remove some of the blood and "gamey-ness." Salt and pepper meat cubes. Brown in butter or oil. Put celery and onion in crock pot. Add browned meat cubes and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low 8 to 12 hours (high 4 to 6 hours). Stir occasionally. Serve with dumplings (yum!). This recipe yields 4 servings.

Comments: You might want to slightly cook the potatoes first as they sometimes dont cook very well in the crock pot.
