1 cup Butter or margarine
2/3 cup Light brown sugar
1/2 cup Granulated sugar
3 x Eggs separated
1 tbl Water
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp Almond extract
2 cup Flour sifted
1/4 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
12 oz Semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 cup Chopped black walnuts or pecans
1 pch Cream of tartar
Instructions:
Instructions: Cream butter with the 2/3 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar in large bowl of electric mixer. Beat egg yolks lightly and add. Beat in water and flavorings.

Sift flour with soda and salt and blend in well. Spread in ungreased 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle with chocolate bits, then walnuts; press down lightly with palm of hand.

Beat egg whites until foamy; add cream of tartar; continue beating until stiff. Fold in the 1/2 cup brown sugar; spread over chocolate bits.

Bake at 300` for 50 to 55 minutes. Cool, cut in squares (small for cookies; larger as a base for ice cream dessert). Freezes well.

Yield 60 small
cookies.
