Instructions: * Basic foundation ingredients; others may be omitted or modified as desired.
1. Mix the nuts and grains (first 7 items) in a baking pan that is 9 x 13 inches or larger. 2. Mix and heat in a saucepan the margarine, salt, brown sugar and water. Pour over the grain mixture, blending well. 3. Bake in a 325 preheated oven for about 40 minutes until golden and crisp. Be careful not to burn. 4. Cool and store in a jar with a tight lid. NOTES: This is usually eaten with milk. Powdered milk may be added to the mix ahead of time to simplify preparation, and a little water added at meal time. Add 1 1/2 c dry milk to 5 cups granola.
