1. Heat the oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Add the onion, celery, carrots, and apples and saute for 5 minutes. 2. Mix together the flour and curry powder. Sprinkle over the mixture in the pot. 3. Add the broth and cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, parsley, and cloves. 4. Add the sugar, mace, pepper, and salt. Cook, covered, for 20 minutes.
