Instructions: Fry bacon in large, heavy saucepan until crisp. Drain; set aside. In small amount of drippings, add green bell pepper, onion, carrot and garlic; saute for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, beans, water, salt, pepper and sugar; simmer for 45 minutes. Add crumbled bacon and parsley; cook 5 minutes longer.
