1/2 cup Shortening
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 cup Packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup Granulated sugar
2 x Eggs
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
2 cup Sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp Allspice
2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Cloves
Instructions:
Instructions: Cream shortening, add sugars gradually, blending thoroughly. Add eggs, beat thoroughly. Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with beer, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Turn into greased 8x8x2" pan.

Bake in moderate oven, 4045 minutes. Cool, slice, enjoy!
