Instructions: Mix together the dates, raisins, ginger, nuts, lemon peel, golden syrup and lemon juice. Set aside.
Sift together the flour, sugar and salt. Rub in the butter, add enough water to form a stiff dough. Roll dough out 1/4 inch thick, cut into 2. Place the fruit filling on one half of dough and cover with other half. Place on a lightly greased baking tray and bake at 350 oven 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool, then cut into squares.
