Ingredients:
Amount Ingredient
20 x dried figs
20 x walnut halves or 1 oz walnut halves (about)
candied orange peel
4 oz good-quality bittersweet chocolate (such as tobler, suchard, valrhona or callebaut)
Instructions:
Instructions: Remove the remnants of the stems from the tops of the figs, then slit the figs open vertically, but do not cut all the way through. Place a walnut half and a piece or two of candied orange peel inside, and press the fig closed with your fingers.

In a saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter over very low heat until smooth. Remove from the heat.

Dip the figs into the chocolate to coat them, and place them on a rack or wax paper until the chocolate hardens. Store, wrapped in wax paper in a box for up to 1 week.

NOTES : Elegant and easy. This traditional Old World confection recipe proves that some things just can not be improved upon. Old-timers lover these delightfully chewy, crunchy, chocolaty morsels, and once you taste them, you may become addicted as well. (Nutrition note: 24 halves per ounce-pat).
