Instructions: Remove the remnants of the stems from the tops of the figs, then slit the figs open vertically, but do not cut all the way through. Place a walnut half and a piece or two of candied orange peel inside, and press the fig closed with your fingers.
In a saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter over very low heat until smooth. Remove from the heat. Dip the figs into the chocolate to coat them, and place them on a rack or wax paper until the chocolate hardens. Store, wrapped in wax paper in a box for up to 1 week. NOTES : Elegant and easy.
