6 gm butter
1/2 cup sugar (caster)
1 x eggs
1 cup flour, self-raising
1/4 cup milk
4 x apples, Granny Smith
1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions:
Instructions: Grease a 25 cm springform pan and set oven temperature at moderate 180C/360F.

Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat well.

Sift flour, add half and beat to combine. Add milk and remaining flour alternately (this will make a thick mixture). Spread mixture over the base of the prepared tin.

Cut peeled, cored and quartered apples into thin slices but not all the way through, squeezing lemon juice over as you go. Place apples, core side down on the cake. Place in oven and bake for 1 hour.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Serve while still warm.

Serve warm with cream as a dessert or cold with afternoon tea.
