Instructions: Chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Its okay to leave the skins on, but be sure to leave out the cores!
As you cut the apples, put them in a saucepan with enough water to cover them. This will help keep them from turning brown, and also save a step, because youre going to cook them a little in that same pan. When the apples are all cut up and in the pan, covered with water, set it on the stove and bring to a boil. Let them cook for a few minutes - maybe 5 or 10 - until theyre just tender but not yet mushy. Preheat the oven to 350-F degrees. Drain the apples; mix together the maple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon, and stir the apples around in this mixture to coat them. Put the coated apples in a baking pan along with any of the syrup mixture thats left. Now mix the butter and maple syrup together with the oats and walnuts to make the topping; spread or drop it over the apples in the pan. Cover, and bake for 20-25 minutes; then uncover and let finish - probably another 10 minutes will make your dessert nice and crunchy. Email this Recipe:
