1/4 cup warm water, 110 to 115 degrees
2 tbl soft shortening
1 cup active dry yeast
2 tsp salt
2 tbl sugar
Instructions:
Instructions: In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add shortening, salt, sugar, and half of flour. Beat 2 minutes at medium mixer speed, scraping bowl and sides often. Add remaining flour and blend with spoon until smooth. Cover and let rise in warm place, 85 degrees, about 30 minutes. Then beat batter 25 strokes. Spread in greased loaf pan. Let rise again until almost to top of pan, about 40 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees and bake 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from pan. Brush top with melted butter and cool.
