Instructions: Cream butter and sugar together; add vanilla and egg. Add sifted dry ingredients; mix thoroughly. Chill dough. Place on cookie sheet in small balls; flatten with fork dipped in sugar, making sure each cookie is sprinkled with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees until edge of cookie just begins to turn golden (about 10 minutes).
