Instructions: Wash and clean the fennel plants. Cut off the tops and bottoms and discard. Slice the fennel into quarters.

Melt butter in a skillet and add the sugar and garlic. Put the fennel in the skillet and cook until golden brown. Add orange juice, water, and a little salt and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes until the fennel is fork tender (if fennel is not tender enough, add a little juice or water).
