1/2 cup water
1 tbl butter or margarine
1 tbl vanilla extract
3 cup bread flour
3 tbl sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Five spice powder
1/2 tsp active dry yeast
or bread machine yeast
3/4 cup Snipped mixed dried berries and cherries
----------------- POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE: ----------------
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Instructions: Add bread ingredients to machine according to manufacturers directions. Select loaf size and basic white bread cycle. Cool.

POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE: In a small bowl, mix together powdered sugar and enough milk (4 to 6 teaspoons) to make a glaze of drizzling consistency.

*Compare lowfat sour cream (169 Calories; 2g Fat (8.9% of the calories)) to full fat sour cream (175 Calories; 3g Fat (14.4% calories from fat)).

Yield: 1 1/2 pounds

NOTES : Rich with sour cream and chockful of dried fruits, this 5-spice scented loaf is perfect for gift-giving. Package in tinted cellophane, tie with a colorful ribbon.
*While the number "five" figures prominently in the name of Chinese five-spice powder, some blends have up to 6 or 7 spices, or as few as four. A typical mix includes ground anise seed, start anise, clove, cinnamon and Szechwan peppercorns.
