Instructions: In a medium saucepan combine wine and sugar. Bring to a boil and continue to boil for 2 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and add the raisins and lemon juice. Place the figs in a bowl and pour the raisin wine sauce over them. Let the fruit macerate for at least 3 to 4 hours or over night until ready to serve. Remove the figs from the sauce and arrange 6 halves on each plate like spokes of a wheel. Pour the sauce into a small saucepan and boil gently for 4 to 5 minutes to reduce. Cool slightly while preparing the pears. Core and julienne the pears. Place in the center of the figs and squeeze a few drops of lemon juice over the pears to prevent discoloration. Spoon some sauce over the figs and sprinkle each serving with 1 tsp walnuts.
