Instructions: Prepare pastry and chill in refrigerator while preparing filling. Mix pork, beef, onion, nutmeg, cinnamon, sage, and pepper in a large saucepan.
Place over high heat and cook until meat loses its pink color. Stir frequently. Reduce heat to moderately low; cover and cook 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Mix in the cracker crumbs and the broth. Heat oven to 450 degrees. Roll out half the pastry and line a 9-inch pie plate. Spoon in warm filling. Roll out remaining pastry for top crust and place over filling. Flute edges and prick top of pastry. Bake pie 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with a tossed green salad and warm French bread. Serves 6 to 8. Jennifer S.
