Instructions: Combine 1 cup sugar and shortening; cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine 2 cups flour; baking soda and salt; combine buttermilk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beating well after each addition.
Combine pecans and 1 tablespoon flour; stir well. Stir pecans and apples into batter. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9x5x3-inch pan. Combine 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Email this Recipe:
