Instructions: Heat the syrup in a 2 quart sauce pan over medium-low heat until the mixture begins to bubble.
Mix the dry ingredients well before cutting in the shortening. Mix that part then add the milk. Roll dough on a floured counter top until its approximately a 9 x 13 rectangle. Sprinkle black raspberries onto dough and spread out to about 1 1/2 inches from edge of dough. Roll up like a jelly roll, and cut into 1-inch pieces. Lay them in a 9 x 13 pan as close together as you can get them. Sprinkle the remaining fruit over the top of the dumplings then top with syrup. Bake in a 375F. oven for 35-40 minutes. Other fruit may be substituted for the black raspberries. With apples, chop them and drizzle some honey over apples before rolling up and cutting. Marilyn King Indiana State Email this Recipe:
