Instructions: Combine the flour, 1/3 cup of the cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
Whisk the eggs, sugar, butter, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Add the flour mixture, stirring until mixed. Fold in the walnuts. Spread the batter evenly in an ungreased 8-inch square cake pan. Whisk the remaining 1/3 cup cocoa, brown sugar and boiling water in a bowl. Pour over the batter. Place on the middle oven rack. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cake will not appear set when first removed from the oven, but do not overbake. Serve warm with coffee ice cream. Note: This rich and wonderful cake separates into layers as it bakes, making its own sauce. Email this Recipe:
