Instructions: Cream shortening with brown sugar, molasses, and eggs until well mixed.
Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill until dough can be handled easily, about 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Form dough into 1 inch balls; roll each ball in sugar to coat well. Place balls 3 inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes until set but not browned. NOTES : I use 2 teaspoons of ginger to get a more spicy cookie. Email this Recipe:
