Instructions: Use a 10 or 12-inch Dutch oven.
Peel and slice potatoes thinly. Place in Dutch oven. Dot with butter over surface of potatoes. Salt and pepper to taste. Obviously, you cannot taste it now, but you have a feel for how much you need. Pour goats milk until it reaches the edge if the top layer of the potatoes. Cover and cook at 325F. for approximately 1 1/2 hours. Do your own experimentation. Sprinkle cheese on top of potatoes 1/2 hour before done (when a fork goes into the potatoes, but not smoothly). Cook until fork goes smoothly into potatoes. This is a crowd pleaser at church socials and the like. Everyone wants to know the secret. Dont tell them its goats milk. You know how finicky some folks are. These measurements are approximate. Play with it as well as number of servings. In that regard, it is a forgiving recipe. Fair at New Boston (Historic Reenactment) Email this Recipe:
