Instructions: In electric mixer, cream butter with 1 cup sugar at medium speed until very light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until mixture is very fluffy and smooth, about 5 minutes. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; stir into butter mixture. Beat egg whites until very stiff; fold into butter gradually. Lightly grease bottom of 10-inch tube pan; pour in batter. Bake in 350-degree oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Invert to cool.
