Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil over high heat. Add the grits, cover loosely, and cook for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the mixture is very thick, stirring occasionally. Remove the grits from the heat and add the cheese and butter, stirring until melted and well-combined. Stir in the remaining ingredients until well-blended, then spoon into the baking dish. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until light golden. This recipe yields 6 servings. Comments: Nothings more down-home Southern than stick-to-your ribs cheese grits.
