Instructions: Sift flour and baking powder together and set aside.
In a mixer, whisk butter with sugar until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla, then gently fold in sifted flour and milk. Place golden syrup in a 4-5 cup pudding basin or 4 greased individual moulds and spoon in mixture. Cover with 2 layers of greased greaseproof paper and steam for 30 minutes. Longer when in one dish.
