Instructions: Cream sugar, shortening & eggs. Add milk, baking powder, salt and vanilla and mix well. Add enough flour to make a dough which can be rolled out. Roll out dough and cut into 3 inch circles with the lip of a drinking glass or a biscuit cutter.
Filling: Barely cover raisins and nuts with hot water until they swell. Heat and thicken with cornstarch. Partly cool and add chocolate chips. Drop 1 teaspoon of filling onto a dough circle. Cover with second dough circle and seal edges. Bake at 375 degrees F on greased cookie sheets for 10 -12 minutes. Cool and frost/ decorate as desired. Store in closed container to keep soft.
