In a large mixing bowl, mix together until creamy the white and brown sugars, softened butter, and egg. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt; blend well. Add the chocolate chips and blend through the dough with a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough on prepared cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 11 minutes.
