1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
1 x egg
1/2 cup sweet milk
4 cup flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 cup nuts chopped
1 tbl lard (can substitute Crisco)
2 tsp vanilla
Instructions:
Instructions: *To seed cranberries - cut in halves and place in colander. Shake colander vigorously and seeds will fall out.

Mix all ingredients together and put into 2 greased loaf pans. Let rise 1/2 hour. Bake in 350F oven until it tests done, (about 50 minutes)

Deb Says: This is my Grandmothers recipe from the 1920s. She passed away when I was only 6 years old, but I remember her making this for the Christmas holidays. One of my Aunts continued the tradition until a few years ago when it was passed on to me and now I make it for our family holiday gatherings. I hope you like it as well as we all do.
