1 tbl olive oil
1/2 cup mushrooms minced
1 sm onion minced
1/4 cup ground oats
3 cup cooked short grain brown rice
1 x egg beaten
2 tbl Parmesan cheese

* this rice is stickier, so the burger holds together better on the grill

Heat the oil in a small skillet over medium high heat. Add the mushrooms and onions and saute until the mushrooms are dark and the onion is golden, about 6-7 minutes. Prepare an outside grill with an oiled rack set 6 inches above the heat source. On a gas grill, set the heat to medium. Combine the mushrooms and onions with the remaining ingredients. Form the mixture into 6 patties. Grill the burgers, turning once, for a total of 6-7 minutes until the outside is golden brown.

This recipe serves 6 people. Because this recipe is for a particular size pan, it adjusts the number of servings only in multiples of 6.
