Instructions: Saute chicken or pork and sausage in oil in a Dutch oven or other flameproof casserole until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Add onion, bell pepper and 3 to 5 teaspoons garlic, to taste; cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in beans, tomatoes, thyme, chicken broth; season to taste with salt and pepper.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine bread crumbs and remaining garlic; sprinkle over top of bean mixture. Bake, uncovered, until crumbs are browned and beans are thickened, about 1 1/2 hours. Email this Recipe:
