Instructions: Fry the sliced onions with the salt pepper and around bay leaves in the fat until well caramelised.
Stir in the flour adding more fat if necessary and fry until the mixture has turned a good brown colour. Stir in the flavouring ingredients then slowly add the guinness sugar and wine vinegar and gently bubble together for about 5 minutes. Stir in 300ml water and bubble for a further 15 minutes. A gutsy gravy that goes with anything meaty especiallv when served with mash. Serves 4 Email this Recipe:
