Instructions: Beat sugar and shortening until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla and orange rind.
Beat until smooth. Measure and sift together the dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with sour milk. Chill 2 hours or over- night. Drop from teaspoon onto greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Do not over-bake. Make up your own white icing recipe and chocolate icing recipe (or buy 1 can of each). When cool, on flat side of cookie, frost half with white frosting and other half with chocolate frosting to resemble the half moon. Makes 3 dozen. Email this Recipe:
