Instructions: Fold the chopped ham and grated cheese into the mayonnaise and spread on to one of the slices of bread.
Place the other slice of bread on top and cut in half diagonally. Marinated spare ribs 900g spare ribs 5 tabEspoons tomato puree 2 tablespoons clear honey 2 tablespoons soy sauce 5 tablespoons red wine vinegar 275ml beef stock (or dry cider if you havent any Salt and freshly milled black pepper Try to get really meaty ribs for this. After the marinating and long cooking the spicy meat almost falls off the bones. Spread the ribs out evenly in a single layer in a large ovenproof dish and season them lightly with salt and pepper. Then whisk all the remaining ingredients together with a fork and pour the mixture over the ribs turning them over so that all sides of each rib are well coated. Leave them in a cool place for about 3 hours turning the ribs over in the marinade occasionally. Preheat the oven to gas mark 6 4000F (200 degrees C). Roast the ribs in the marinade mixture for half an hour basting them from time to time then after that reduce the heat to gas mark 4 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Cover the dish with foil and continue to roast the ribs for a further 1 hour (still basting from time to time). Serve them on their own as a first course or with rice and salad for a main course. Note: If the mixture looks a bit dry towards the end of the cooking time add a couple of tablespoons of hot water. Serves 6 as a starter or 2 3 as a main course Email this Recipe:
