Instructions: Holiday Butter Cookies are simple and can be prepared in several steps. The dough can be made and refrigerated one day; rolled, cut and baked the next. Or freeze the baked cookies, and decorate when its convenient.
Cream butter in a large mixer bowl. Gradually add sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add combined dry ingredients to butter mixture; mix well. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour or until thoroughly chilled. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/8 -inch thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutters into desired shapes. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in 350-degree oven 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned around edges. Transfer cookies to wire racks; cool completely. Decorate as desired. Makes 4 to 5 dozen Email this Recipe:
