Instructions: Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each one.
Beat in honey. Combine milk and almond extract. Sift flour, baking powder, maize and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat well, then pour into 8-inch round cake pans (greased and floured; bottom only). Cake will rise evenly. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes. Spread layers with Honey Nut Topping and bake 5 minutes longer. Cool, then remove from pans. Serve as is or layered and frosted with whipped cream.
