Instructions: Combine onions, tomatoes, peppers and avocados in a medium bowl (and any other veggies you feel like adding), squish together with your hands. Trust me, its the best feeling! Juice the lime, add juice and stir to distribute throughout. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir, I do it to taste, so the amounts are approximate. The secret ingredient is the taco seasoning, I think it adds so much to the flavour. This is the powder in an envelope that you add to ground beef when youre making tacos, although any dried pepper seasoning will work. Ive heard chipotle powder is amazing. You can add a spoonful of sour cream if youre feeling decadent, but its not absolutely necessary. Enjoy with tortilla chips, pita chips, or anything dippable.
As for the colour, it looks great at first, but turns brown on top as it is exposed to the air. As much lime/lemon juice as I put in, I have never been able to stop this. It doesnt affect the taste at all, though. One idea Ive heard is to leave the pit in with the dip, and I actually tried that for the first time last night. It stayed nice and green while I was eating it, but Ill have to check the leftovers tonight. Mmmmmmmmm, experimental leftovers. Email this Recipe:
