Instructions: Mix the horse gram turmeric and chilli powder.
Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. When they pop add the horse gram mixture and salt and stir fry for a minute. Take off the heat and add the kokum and coconut. Mix well and serve hot. Remove the kokum after an hour or so if you are not serving the stir fry immediately or it will make the dish too sour. The stir fry goes as well with toast as it does with rotis. Although it is considered a main dish it can quite easily be served as a salad with fried chicken or kababs. Try it mixed with yoghurt for an unusual accompaniment. Serves 4 Email this Recipe:
