Instructions: Using a sharp knife, cut a deep, 1/2-inch X on the flat side of each nut. Be sure to cut down to the meat.
Preheat oven to 450i. Spread the nuts on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 20 minutes, until the shells open. Some of the nuts may make popping noises as they roast. Let the nuts cool just enough to handle. The meat is easier to dislodge when the roasted nut is still warm. Remove the hard shell along with the bitter inner skin. If you have trouble removing the skin, simply trim it off with a sharp pairing knife. Email this Recipe:
