Instructions: Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; set aside.
Combine egg and hot sauce; stir into buttermilk. Pour into dry ingredients, stirring just to mix. Stir in onion and corn. (Do not over-mix batter.) Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep, hot oil, 350 degrees: cook only a few hush puppies at a time, turning once. Fry 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
