Instructions: Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl, make a well in the center, and add 1 cup of the liquid. Mix until it forms a soft dough; the rest of the liquid may, little by little, if needed. Knead the dough on a lightly floured board until smooth and firm. The dough will remain soft.
Cover and let sit 10 minutes. Pinch off piece of dough about the size of an egg. Flatten each one evenly to about 5 inches in diameter. In a heavy skillet, heat 1 1/2 inch of oil to 350F degrees. Fry 2 or 3 pieces of dough at a time until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, turning them once. Drain on paper towels and keep warm in a very low oven. Repeat until all remaining dough pieces are cooked. Serve warm. Email this Recipe:
