1 cup butter
1/2 cup Crisco
2 cup sugar
5 x egg yolks
2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
1 can angel flake coconut
1 cup chopped Pecans
1/4 x Cognac
1/2 tsp salt
5 x egg whites, beaten stiffly
----------------- ICING ----------------
1 stk butter
1 pkt cream cheese, (8oz.)
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
1 tbl Cognac
1 cup pecans, chopped
Instructions:
Instructions: Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat well until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and baking soda, and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in flavorings, salt, coconut and nuts; add Cognac. Fold in egg whites. Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until done.

Prepare icing as follows:
Cream all together until smooth. Will generously ice all three layers and sides.
