Instructions: Cream the butter, oil, sugars and eggs. Stir in vanilla. Stir in salt, soda, and cream of tartar. Stir in the sifted flour until combined. You can roll the dough a tablespoon or so at a time into a ball, or just scoop small blobs. Then place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten with a glass whose bottom has been dipped in sugar to flatten. You can use a jar with a pretty bottom or a regular cookie flattener. Bake at 350 until they start to get brown around the edges.
