Instructions: In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg; set aside. In a large mixing bowl beat butter, sugar and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour mixture as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour mixture. Fold in cherries and almonds. Pat mixture evenly into a foil or waxed paper- lined 8 x 4 x 2" loaf pan. Cover and chill for 2 hours.
Uncover, Invert loaf pan onto a cutting board. Remove foil or waxed paper. Cut dough into slightly less than 1/4"-thick slices. Cut each slice in half diagonally to form two triangles. Place cookies 1" apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 oven about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely. 72 cookies Email this Recipe:
