Mix all ingredients (except for ribs or sausage) with hands. Form into balls; fry in olive oil. In same pan, fry boneless pork ribs, or good sweet Italian sausage. Sauce: In separate pot, simmer all together. After frying the meatballs and pork (or Italian sausage), put them into the tomato sauce mixture. Do not drain grease from the frying pan. Add a large can of tomato paste to the grease in the frying pan, plus some water to thin; simmer this, making a tomato gravy. After all browning from pan has cooked into paste, pour into pan of crushed tomatoes and sauce. Simmer at least 3 hours (the longer, the better). Serve over any pasta.
