Instructions: In a 5- to 6-quart pan over medium-high heat, stir butter or margarine and onions until butter is melted. Cover pan and stir occasionally until onions are limp, about 10 minutes. Uncover and stir often until onions are tinged with brown, about 7 minutes longer.
