Instructions: Beat the egg yolks; gradually add the sugar, beating until thick and light in color. Sift flour, salt and baking powder into egg-yolk mixture and fold in. Stir in the vanilla and fold in the egg whites. Turn into two 8-inch layer-cake pans that have been greased and dusted with flour.
Bake in a 350 degree oven 20 minutes, or until browned and free from sides of pan. Cool on a cake rack. Spread whipped cream or cooked fruit or icing or any filling of your choice between the layers of cake. Email this Recipe:
