Soak oats in boiled water for 30 min; cool. In large bowl, beat butter and sugars until light. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift and measure flour and sift again with soda, salt and spices. Fold into egg mixture cooked oats then sifted dry mix. Turn into buttered 9"x9" pan lined on the bottom. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit 40-45 minutes. TOPPING: Mix all ingredients while cake is still hot, spread, then put under preheated broiler briefly, until bubbly and gold. Enjoy! This cake is "to die for". Instead of soaking fresh oats in hot water, use leftover cooked oats. Email this Recipe:
